I have an Electrolux stackable washer and dryer. Model: MEX 731CAS3 It is in a tight place but I would like to pull it out and "unstack" it for removal and sale. Does anyone know if indeed, the dryer and washer can be separated and if so, how? I would like to know if I can finish the job on my own before starting. Thank you. Ian

Typically stacked washers and dry are attached with a bracket in the back of the machine. Pull your machine out and you should see the brackets. Undo the screws and the dryer should lift off the washer.

Kenmore washer agitator

Remove the agitator cap and the bolt in the middle that holds the agitator. Reach underneath the sides of the agitator and pull up. Try gently rocking it around as you pull, I'm sure it's going to be stuck pretty tight.
Good luck!

How to unstack a dryer

I have a Kenmore 417.69042990 stackable dryer and had a similar problem. To unstack it, in the front of the dryer there are two screws that are covered by round caps. They are easy to miss unless you look for them. Remove the caps, and the screws underneath it. Now, voila, you can lift the front of the dryer and pull as to unlock it from the two brackets in the rear of the dryer. Hope this helps... I took me and my husband over an hour to figure this out...

HOW TO UNSTACK A WASHER AND DRYER

Chainsaw, no seriously the dryer is bolted to the washer and not all of them can be unstacked. Remove the front panel of the dryer to expose the bolts holding it down. this only works if your washer is of the front loading type. if it is a top loader there should be some sort of frame the dryer is bolted to. after removing the dryer from a front load stack washer, the washer may or may not have a top panel on it
