When I turn on my DS Lite, the DS Lite menu is on the screen. I touch the Pokemon Platinum tab (because I have a Pokemon Platinum game) and it starts, goes past the the intro then I press 'Start' because it tells me to. After that, I choose 'Continue'. Then my screen just stays black or dark purple when it is suppose to go black for a little while then starts the game.
This started to happen when I hadn't played my DS Lite for very long and turned it on one day.
I have tried taking the battery out because that restores the factory settings; clamping it shut then opening it to it's full potential; smacking it at the top and the bottom not too hard, not too soft.

Getting to the Mystery Gift option is simple. First you turn on your DS and select Pokemon Platinum. Once it gets to the opening screen, hit start to get to the next menu screen. Scroll down till you see Mystery Gift and hit A. You should see 3 options for Mystery Gift. Depending on the circumstances of the gift, you'll usually need to either acquire it through WiFi Connection or through a Local Area Connection, usually at a Gamestop or Toys R Us or toy/game store that is holding a Mystery Gift event.
Getting a Gift is all about timing. Pokemon Mystery Gifts are time restricted and once it has passed, you cannot get the gift item/pokemon without getting it from a friend who did the event.
using an action replay has some risk's involved when useing. you have to be very careful of what code you use. you game is busted, you can try to reset your story mode by going to new game.

try to find a friend to let you borrow a new game. if problem persists then contact nintendo and depending on your warranty they will fix it or at least diagnose and give you an estimate
You have to erase your action replay.Shut off DS.Turn on and hold a,b,select,and start until it turns to the title screen of AR .Then type in the game/name then type CPUE-D074D1B3. For pokeomn platinum.
when i turned on my DS lite it went to the action replay screen but there was no games entered so i tried to add the game it worked sort of when i put my game ID in for pokemon pearl the bottom screen started showing blue and red lines
