Cannot install cd software into my HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Solution 1.
Do Windows Update. It will download and install the service packs that you need as well as the latest driver for your ZEN V Plus if it has found one. Make sure to install all the suggested updates.

• Click Start
• Type windows update in the search box
• Click the Windows Update icon from the search list
• Windows Update windows will open
• Click the Check for updates button
• It will show number of updates available
• Click Install Updates
• The updates may take a while and your computer might restart a couple of times

Solution 2.
Install the driver/software manually. (Make sure you installed windows update)

• Download and install the Software/Driver from this link http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=9948
• Click on Agree on the Agreement Page
• Download will start automatically
• Double click the downloaded file

Requirements:

• Microsoft® Windows Vista™
• Windows Media® Player 11
• USB 1.1 port (USB 2.0 recommended for faster transfers)
• Creative ZEN V or ZEN V Plus

Notes:

• To install this software pack
  1. Download the ZNV_PCApp64_LA_6_41_10.exe file into your local hard disk.
  2. Close all application and Windows Explorer windows that are currently running.
  3. Connect your player to your computer.
  4. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the instructions on the screen.

This software pack includes the following:

• Creative Media Explorer (version 6.41.10)
  Enables you to manage your player easily in the familiar "Windows Explorer" environment
• Creative Audio CD Ripper (version 5.20.10)
  Extracts songs from an audio CD and transfers them to your player

First I think the your player does not work with Vista, probably that's why its not seeing it. The installation CD is supposed to carry the required software for converting preferred songs to the player's desired formats and it also should contain the desired drivers for windows.

Get downwards on this page and go to Manual selection.
Next choose your language and the Operating System, in this case: Vista and SUBMIT.
The name of the application software for Vista is called:
ZNV_PCApp32_LA_6_41_10.exe

Get an original Vista operating system disc..
then insert d CD and boot from the CD!

Vista by default will support the Zen Sleek Photo as an MTP device, which means that Windows Media Player will recognize it as well as Explorer.

You can use WMP to sync music to it, and Explorer to drag/drop photos to it.

There is a software called media monkey it can recognise all kind of players with that u can load music or videos etc u can download it from internet from torrent

make sure you have the latest version of the program and the latest updates for your OS (you could even try older versions of the software). Is the software compatible with vista? Try and run the program in safe mode... If it still don't work then maybe it just isn't compatible with your current system configuration (google the problem to see if others had the same issue). does it freeze other computers running vista? Ask yourself these types of questions to narrow down the possiblities and therefore finding the source of your problem. Your install disk is made for windows xp. If you provide me with the details of your player I can give you the driver download link.

Get the Vista compat software. If you already have:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Luckily for me I have a laptop with Windows XP. I installed the Zen software and connected my external hard drive that has all my music on it and copied the music from the external drive to the Zen. Problem sovled, although I really would like to have the software work properly using Vista. For now the solution works.
