Be real careful when separating the front bezel from the rear casing, you may break the ribbon cable.

Vertical lines on screen looks very bad

maybe your TV have a deffective LCD PANEL,cause those are the systoms of the deffective lcd panel..better to put your unit the nearest service cnter or well trained technician to do the job,,goodluck

I would inspect all the caps, if you find even one bulging top/leak you should replace them as a set.
See failed SAMSUNG here, use good caps, such as PANASONIC FM or FC series from DIGIKEY.

How to open the LCD Casing for Samsung 740N?

htommie, Watch some video clips at YOUTUBE under "LCD monitor disassembly" and or "LCD monitor repair" to see if you really want to do that. The hardest part is "PARTING" the rear plastic cover from the front "BEZEL". You also might find some info at www.ccl-la.com run by another FIXYA guy with nickname "buddymc" Hope this helps. 12fixlouie

How do you open up Samsung LCD 740N monitor?

This monitor contains a latches to open. Its recommended that you use suitable tools and service manual.

If the unit is in warranty its recommended that unit to be serviced by service Engineer.

I just had my Samsung 740N LCD monitor auto adjustment lock 2hours ago.

But i found this cool solution at www.fixya.com

"Press down the menu button(1st button on the left) for 5sec or until the menu display gone?"
and it works for me. Hope it will work on you

My Samsung syncmaster 740N screen suddenly gone black whilst remaining powered on. After studying the site here I have carefully removed the power supply board but am unsure of where to go from here as everything looks pretty clean, the caps look unburnt although there is a lot of rubbery gung around them (I think it is just a messy job of the insulation) and I can see imagery behind the black screen if I use a flashlight, Help please i am pretty stuck? Thanking you if you can.

monitor power light flickering and no display my monitor is Samsung SyncMaster 740N. when i switch on my pc, monitor isn't displaying anything. The power light blinks. I can hear the Windows login sound in speakers. I guess there is either problem with the monitor or the display adapter. The adapter i use is ATI Radeon xpress 200 series. Please suggest a solution
