Since changing the lamp a week or so ago, a constellation of small white pinpoints has proceeded to litter the screen (up to ten and counting). Cleaning the lamp has no effect.

I would think that the dead pixels are now obvious since you have increased the brightness with a new lamp. Are they multiplying like a virus?

THere are an increasing number of white spots (damaged pixels?) on the projection screen. It started with one, and one flickering, now there are 4 clear spots, and another flickers. Can this be solved?

If the spots are well defined rectangular shapes, then DMD pixel failure would most likely be the problem.
You could replace the DMD chip, but it might be more economical to sell the unit as is and buy a new one

THERE is two small bright patches in the screen

the two small bright patches are actually bad pixels.there is nothing to worry about as upto 5-6 bad pixels are fine.these bad pixels do not spread generally so no reason to worry.in case the number of bad pixels on the screen increase to more than 5-6 then you can get your unit replaced by the manufacturer if in warranty.

Is coming alot of bright spot all over the screm like a little point isee the channels whith the spot

These are failing pixels in the matrix. Eventually the screen will not be viewable.
The screen is made of millions of points of l;ight called pixels They turn on and off to create what you see on the screen. When they fail they become minute white spots.

Sony a100 distortion dots - Im getting several

If these are single pixels on the LCD screen, they are normal. From pg. 8 of the user's guide:

"The LCD monitor is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effective use. However, there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD monitor. These points are normal in the manufacturing process and do not affect the images in any way. "

This may also be helpful.

"images may trail across the LCD monitor in a cold location. This is not a malfunction. When turning on the camera in a cold location, the LCD monitor may become temporarily dark. "

Desktop scree showing white bright spots

Hi,

The bright spots which you are seeing my be the failed pixels on the screen.

Once connect the external monitor to the notebook and check the display on the external display.

If you don't have external monitor, then restart the notebook and Press F10 or F2 key to Enter into BIOS. If the screen is same with bright pixels in the BIOS screen, then the it is confirmed the issues is with bad pixels.

If your notebook is under warranty, then HP will arrange for mail-in.

Note: There is Pixel policy from HP, go through thebelow URL:

White bright spots on screen

These kind of patches or spots are called as Dead Pixels.
If you find any thing that doesnot change colour along with the other part of the Display according to the image, those spots are referred as Dead Pixels where the LCD needs to be replaced.
Contact your nearest HP Authorized Service Center and find the cost to get the LCD replaced.

I GET WHITE SPOTS ON MY LCD SCREEN

this is a touchy subject for sony. basically sony has increased the brightness levels for the backlights to have better color tones in thier lcd's. well the downfall of this is the white spots you are experiencing. this is not a defect, you will never get them to go away, the only thing you can do is to turn the backlight and brightness down to reduce the white spots. if you contact sony, there is a software upgrade that will help reduce this issue...
