Our TV picture works fine then blacks out with audio continuing to work ok.Now after some time picture works ok for about 20 seconds the blacks out with audio continuing on OK.While we bought this in 2008 the TV does not have high usage since we are gone 6 months a year.We are on Comcast cable.

I think you chose a Westinghouse Lemon, go this site and read all of the negative reviews of this model;

"Horrible customer service on a worse television" by westinghousecrap on March 20, 2009 Pros: Good picture once it is properly adjusted.
Cons: Low quality audio, had the TV for 10.5 months and the picture went out, sent the TV at MY expense to TX, and I've been waiting for 2 months, and customer service can only say that there is a "delay". And they don't send a new TV, it's a rebuild.
Summary: Please don't waste your money on this TV, spend a little more on a different brand and save yourself the headaches I've had. I'll never purchase a Westinghouse product again. Customer service has been no help, and their answers are vague at best. Learn from my nightmare, NCAA march madness on a old 19" TV because my Westinghouse quit working 2 months ago and they still haven't replaced it.

Hi Medhat,
When the picture disappears and the sound continues please try a flash light on the screen. If you see the picture, it is the backlight which fails. Most of the times it is the inverter card which causes this.

this works for me.....hold down the off button on top of the tv for at least 5 seconds....(not the remote).....then try the remote on button

if it does not work the first time....try holding down the tv off button a bit longer

The set will need to be properly diagnosed to narrow down the problem. You could be looking at a bad inverter, bad CCFL lamp, fault in power supply or main board.

The backlight inverter which is also part of the power supply needs to be replaced. If you feel comfortable you can replace the blown capacitors on it.

When tv turned on will get apicture for only a few seconds then screen goes black, but wil continue to have audio. Cannot pull up menu on tv either

Hello.The screen goes black means that the backlights of your LCD is not working.Maybe the problem is the power supply or the driver board of the backlights.They shutdown because there have a shorted parts on the circuit or power supply. Did you try to reset the power and turned on and get a picture or every time that you reset the power it will get a picture and the picture goes black?

Kenmark 20" LCD TV Sound but no picture

My Kenmark Tv Switches its picture off if the PSU voltage drops. Audio is OK but picture does not return as PSU voltage goes back up. PSU's are about £10 online !2Volt 4A Might be worth a punt

My Sony comes on then both sound and picture goes black.

After being on a little while, the screen goes black (no audio as well) for 20 to 30 seconds. Green light stays on. Then, picture comes back on and takes a couple of seconds to get up to full brightness. About 5 seconds or so after the video comes back, the audio returns.

Until this morning, has only happened a couple of times a day, now happening more often. About 3 times in last 20 minutes.

KDF-E55A20 is about 3 years old.
