I have a R707 HP Photosmart 5.1 MP 24xzoom digital camera. I just put a new memory card in the camera and took pics of my son's field trip now when I try to view the pics, the camera says the card is unreadable, then says the card has the wrong format. When I press OK to format the card, it says unable to format. What is wrong?

I have the same camera took it from my dad because he had that problem.  I think it was due to too much heat.  It was always keeped in the car.             I just take the SD card and plug it in and out untill it reads it.  Some times just leave it alone for about 10 min and its fine.

The card might be damaged, Id have it checked by a professional. possibly the pictures are still recoverable.

if the card works fine then its most likely a problem with the camera, try to format it to the right format on your pc for example

Hewlett packard photosmart r707 card is unreadable

Replace the card. Make sure you back it up to your hard drive frequently.

My hp photosmart r707 gives me a message (card is unreadable) i have inserted a new card and i get the same message each time.

SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. Some cameras have a capacity limit, and won't work with cards that are too large (in memory terms).

One thing you could try is formatting the card. There is a function in the camera menus to do this. If it won't format or gives an error when you try, then there may be an issue with the connectors in the card slot or the card may be incompatible. However, I would expect the camera to report that the card needed formatting rather than that it was unreadable, if formatting was the only problem.

My hp photosmart r707 keeps saying the card is unreadable, buti just used it yesterday. i cant reset it either. it wont let me and the computer wont read it

Sounds like you're connecting things like your camera or your card in a card reader and just yanking them out of your computer without using the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right of your computer screen.

Both the battery and the memory card are "stuck" and wont' come out. We took it to a camera shop with no success.

Put the camera in the freezer for a couple of minutes. If you manage to remove the battery and memory card, wait for couple of hours so the condensation evaporates. After that you will need to clean the contacts for battery and memory card.

My HP Photosmart R707 Camera not reading memory cards

If the memory card you are using is an SDHC designated card, your camera is probably not compatible with it. SDHC cards are usually 4gb and larger. Check the card for the SDHC label.

Memory card

To transfer the photos, connect directly SD card to your PC through a card reader.
Try to reset your HP R707 camera: remove the battery and press the reset switch for about 5 seconds. Reinsert the battery.

What to do, I forgot to put memory card in HP R707?

Hi

Do you want the pictures transferred to your memory card? that depends on the option available on the camera, try inserting the memory card. select a picture then check options if you can move it to a memory card. if not, download it to a computer and transfer it to the memory card folder.

Hope this help

Memory drive

This has happened to my wife's camera twice now. The solution (I think this is the fix) is to take the card out of the camera and then turn it back on without the card in the camera. Doing this will access the camera's internal memory and at this point you should delete any/all/some of the pictures that you find. After deleting some pics from the camera then take a picture. Now turn the camera off and replace the card. Power on the camera and either format the card or just start taking pictures again. I formatted the this last time since I had already moved the pictures to the P.C. and saved them. Give this a try. It's worked for me and it's free.
