Hi, my Maytag Neptune gas dryer will not heat up anymore. When the machine start to run, you can hear the gas is burning & the heat is blowing from hot to warm to cold in about 60 to 90 seconds that is all. The machine may continue to spin with only cold air for short period time or just shut down itself. Was a faulty thermal fuse may been the problem? Peter

This can be due to one of the many reasons.

May be your start switch not working or door switch not working. So the machine cannot get going. These are simple fixes.

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

The gas coils on the gas valve have gone bad. These are located on the gas valve and will be 2 solenoids. Replace them both and should be able to get as a set. 12001349 should be the number and cost less than 60.00 for the set. Good luck and thank you for using Fix Ya.

your cycling switch or hi-limit switch is defective they are near the heating element inside the dryer

airflow through the tube keeps the sensors from tripping. low flow, quick cycle. when its all together, does it blow out back strong? is the blower stripped? gas keeps coming out scares me..what do you mean?
