Take a note of the settings for your router, contact your ISP and give them the details or ask your ISP what settings you have to set your router too.

They will be able to help you from there.

If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

it is normally 192.168.1.254 for this router, but if you have pinged it the router must be ok, double check your isp password and usename and PPOe or PPOA setting and that the mtu is set correct for your isp.

Why its working with some ISP's and does not work with other ISP

ISP's have different requirements for connecting a router to their hardware. One required me to enter a static IP address, another requires acceptance of a dymanic IP address and a third uses dynamic IP addresses and requires a PPPoE logon from the router and a configuration change to their modem to switch it to a bridge, and a fourth I have read about require a reboot of their modem device to recognise changes in the MAC address (assigned to the network adapter) of the attached device (router). I am sure these are not all the variations possible, Requirements for router connections specifically the WAN side of the router are specific to your ISP. Often in their help or support areas they either have FAQ's or help pages to explain the requirements or an online technician available through chat who can tell you what is required. Often however it is up to you to be able to perform then necessary configuration tasks (especially on you hardware) to make this happen. I may be able to provide assistance of you identify you internet provider including local provider companies and geographic location (city / State) in some cases to determine their policies and requirements for attaching routers to their equipment.

2wire not finding broadband connection

I have tried also in the past, to set up a connection with this make of router with an ISP other than the ISP that supplied it and i was not able to get it to connect as i think the firmware is set to only recognise certain ISP IP addresses or MAC settings.
