To solve this problem follow these steps :

Step 1. Turn your PS3 off into standby mode (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later, then beep once more and turn off into standby again. Release the power button.

Step 3. Press and hold the power button again. It will beep when you first press it, then 5 seconds later beep again and then there will be 2 quick beeps together. Release the power button when you hear these 2 beeps.

Step 4. The PS3 will start up asking you to connect your controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then continue to the next step.

Step 5. The recovery menu will load. Select 3 "Restore File System". This will rewrite the hard drive system and hopefully get your PS3 working again. You shouldn't lose any save game data but that is not guaranteed. Ignore any messages about the hard drive being corrupt.

If the above method does not work try steps 1-4 again but select option 4 from the recovery menu. If that doesn't work as a last resort select option 5. Selecting this option WILL erase your data!

I hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

Dear Friend,

Have you consider to replace your hard drive?. That might be a good possibility why your PS3 can not start the way it should. Try that and see what happens.
