Recently starting with the bowing of the picture intermittent. Watching the television tonight and it suddenly went off. Now it will not power up. What's wrong?
Good Day y'all;
When the is picture being intermittent and bowing then the most common problem is that the convergence circuit has failed or is failing. If you don't get fixed, the will go DOA soon.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

This is a very common failure on Projection sets. Its called a convergence problem.
You may have one or more of the following symptoms.
Screen looks 3D Colors don't line up One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu. Screen is bowed or warped. No Audio / No Video
Good Day, sam;
Sam it depends on "smudge".
If it's an oily type; then a mild soap, like dawn, on damp, warm soft cotton type cloth may remove it.
There are products found in most large best buy, circuit stores that sell a screen cleaner. It's sold in a small spay bottle, about 2-3 ounces. Always spray onto cloth NOT screen. Always wipe/clean with up & down strokes, NOT side to side or at an angle.
If the screen is smudged after attempts of trying to 'cleanning' a scratch, then only replacing the screen will fixya problem, cost will be in the range of $100.00-$250.00.
Good Luck, hope this was helpful, big IRISH.
I have the MITSUBISHI WT-46809 46" HDTV CONVERGENCE IC PROBLEM as well. I just ordered the STK392-570 IC for 7 bucks and I am going to attempt to switch them both out (two of them). I am getting the overstated "bow tie", "RBG separation" issue that you are talking about. I am going to attempt to de-solder the intergrated chips and put new ones in. I figure it is worth the shot, insted of paying 350-650 bucks to have some **** with average skills do the same I figure it is better to have this **** with average skills do it and keep the cash.
I will let you know how it goes....

if no one answered then hear my thoughts. odds are it is 2 ic's I say that because that has been the problem with mine, except it was the red. it happened in 2000 when I bought the tv and just now. its going to cost me about 400.00 to have someone fix it. I'm getting it fixed because it's been good to me. I watch dvd's vhs's and laser disks and feel it has plenty of life in it.
mine is doing the same thing
Have there been any brown outs? How old is the set?
Sounds like the power supply.
