You might have to change the input or start playing blu-ray disc and then change input via the remote to your projector. Make sure it's HDMI out on blu-ray if choice is given and HDMI in on projector.
If this projector is an LCD (liquid crystal display), your LCD probably gone.This usually happens after a period of time with an LCD projector.Try cleaning the LCD or take it to your Sony dealer.

reset the settings to factory default and change your cable. if that doesn't help, the polarizer filter on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excessive dust and heat. the optical engine will need to be replaced.

If this doesn't solve the problem I would advise you to rather take it to a repairer as this could be either the lens that is damaged or the Mainboard where all the processing is done.
