I have a Sony VPL-PX31 LCD projector. The lamp cover light flashes, then remains lit after powering it on. I suspect the push button safety switch is non respondent. Is it possible to bypass the lamp cover switch?

SOURCE: Reset Timer Lamp Sony VPL-HS60 projector

To reset the lamp timer:
1) With the projector plugged in and turned off, press the 'ON/STANDBY' button to put the projector in 'STANDBY' mode. NOTE: You have to press the button on the projector itself, you cannot use the remote for this step (this is not clear in manual).
2) Now, using the remote, press the following keys in order: RESET, <--, -->, ENTER.
3) Timer should now read '0'.

Hi there

You should first check if there is any visible damage on your lamp. If not then it could be a faulty Ballast ( lamp powersupply )

SOURCE: Sony LCD Projector - burned prisms

I have the same projector, but my problem is with red.

A replacement prism assembly is about $2k.

If you can get your hands on another projector for cheap, that's your only hope. You can swap out the blue lcd panel from your prism with someone else... it's a bit of mucking around, but worth it of you can.

I have sony vpl ex7 and the power button keeps on blinking?

If it blinks with 2 flashes, it's overheated. Check the filter unit.
If it blinks with 4 flashes, a fan is not working properly. see if any fan is not turning on, and check why.
If it blinks with 6 flashes, it's a system internal failure.

I have changed the lamp in a Sony VPL EX-1. I have fitted a YODN (LMP - C150) I cannot get the flashing light to go out which indicates `lamp, cover` and I cannot do anything with the projector.

When you open the lamp cover for replacement of lamp there is a switch in the projector is OFF
If lamp cover not fix proper after replacement of lamp the lamp/cover indicator flashing
SOLUTION: Open the lamp cover and fix proper and tight the screw

Sony CS5 Wont turn on

the cover switch is probably not fully made.
Ensure that the cover tangs are pushing the pin
on the miniswitches.
Try putting slight pressure on the fan or lamp cover to see if the lamp/cover light
stops flashing.
you will need to do a restart on the PJ to check this out
