On control panel, double click the printer and faxes icon
double click your pinter icon.
Click the File tab on the priner job window.
Click the Use Printer Offline to uncheck.
Close the window and restart printing.

SEE IF THERE IS A CHECKMARK NEXT TO "WORK OFFLINE".....IF SO, JUST CLICK ON IT AGAIN TO MAKE THE CHECK MARK DISAPPEAR AND BE ABLE TO WORK ONLINE AGAIN..........OR YOU CAN GO INTO THE START MENU, OPEN CONTROL PANEL, GO TO PRINTERS AND FAXES, FIND UR PRINTER,,,,RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND SEE IF PRINTER IS ONLINE OR OFFLINE..

Go to start menu>>Control Panel>>Printer and Faxes>>right click on your printer model over there and select the option Use Printer Online.

I actually solved this problem with Canon's help - I named the drive 'Z'... apparently it's a Windows issue... no problems now

SOURCE: The Printer will not come online

Usualy you have to set up the wirless in the printer driver settings before you go wireless. I suggest pluging the printer in make sure the drivers are installed and before the disconnect choose these settings in your advanced printer driver settings (if it is wireless) and then disconnect and reboot.

I don't have a solution for this problem. I have a comment. I have the same types of issues with my HP. I hate HP. Why is it that we can design software to remotely fly fighter jets but we can't get reliable software to print wirelessly? I am now going to throw my HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One in the road.

The obvious cause of brother printer saying its offline is because it is not set as the default printer on your computer. You can easily change the status of Brother MFC 5890 CN printer offline to online. Under the devices section in your computer check, if it is listed as devices.     Step 1

    Hp deskjet 6980 will not change to online. Working wirelessly. It says Offline and can't be changed to Online. I have to reinstall everytime.
    Right click printer properties and select online. Start /settings /printers. Offline can also indicate a connection is not available - this occurs with demo versions of printer software. When the demo expires, the printer goes offline. The fix is to just use windows networking and shared printer.

    Printer status offline needs to be online
    Do you mean it says "offline" under the printer icon in your PC's printer dialog box?
    Right click it , then select "use printer online".
