Sony KP-53HS30 My problem is Horizontal lines across the top of the picture tube and and picture comes out double with an arc on the duplicate. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it ?

What is the issue you are trying to adjust? Convergence or width or what? The set has an adjustment menu that is hidden but can be called up with the remote used in a certain way.

Red and Blue Tube screen drive controls needs to be turned down some, tubes are over driving causeing drive lines.

yes this could be the start of bad picture tubes . but you can adjust g2 controls and get rid of the line

It's convergence ICs; not a module, though.

My picture screen has double images red,blue,green. The screen looks 3D

If you are using a cable or satesslite receiver chgeck that the problem is not the connection withthe receiver.

TV has problem in convergence circuit. Needs qualified technician.

The convergence amps are the big STK's*** located possibly on the G-board in the sony. It is very difficult if you are not familiar with components and soldering, You can buy them at MCMelectronics, bluestar-online.com, Tritronics, VanceBaldwin.com, etc. Diagrams are online at fixya.com on the rightside of screen. Places like Manual.com or you can search the web. Hope this helps!

A "Gray Scale" adjustment may solve you problem. If one of the picture tubes is set too high it will cause these RETRACE lines. Then too a weak picture tube might cause this. If the horizontal lines are one color: red, green,or blue then whichever color that is shown would tell you which tube is set too high. Your set has 3 screen controls that control the brightness of each tube. One may need to be turned down a little. Stargazer

you have a convergence problem.. If you understand how this works then you can go into the set find the convergence ic's and replace them and sometimes you need to do some alighnment as well. Its always best though to let a service tech do a job like this as he will have all the proper equipment to adjust and troubleshoot the set Good luck
