How do i turn prop when it gets lockedup? - Whirlpool LSR5132J Top Load Washer

It should have a rubber hub pressed into the prop. It can go bad and is in place of a shear pin. The rubber hub should allow the prop to turn at idle speed but will slip at higher speeds. You can get a new hub pressed into the old prop.

Take it back to the supplier as it will be under warranty

Remove the serpentine belt. Put a socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt. Try to turn it clockwise. Doesn't move, locked up. If it does, see if it will start, then look at the A/C compressor being locked up. Best to check all the pulleys. A/C compressors will lock an engine.

with engine off put in gear and check prop fully in gear , get a friend to hold the flywheel solid and you put pressure on the prop and if you can turn it try adjusting linkage to get more selection in forward then check neuteral and reverse ok also ! check the prop bush isnt slipping also !

toro is brand new and mowed for a few minutes and then it locked down and wouldn't move forward or backwards.

sounds like you need a new start kit or your compressor is lockedup. get a supco 3in1 for fractional hp compressors.wire it in correctly! you only get one chance at the last step.

You may not be deep enough in the water and it really is cavitation.

May want to check the lower oil for metal as a Mostly worn out gear can do that

It's normal for a gearbox in forward to "click" in one direction and be firm against the motor when turning against the gears normal rotation.

run the engine and watch the drive shaft behind the engine , is it turning ? also as your mate selects forwad and reverse ! does it stop turning ? pos flywheel damper or output shaft damaged ! pos gearbox damaged !??

If the motor is turning and the shaft is turning and the prop is not, then you may have sheared a pin at the prop. This "pin" is a small piece of metal that is made to shear when under too much pressure so that you don't damage the motor, shaft or prop if the prop hits something that doesn't give. If you can turn the prop freely then this may be your problem.

I had the same problem tonight. I wound up getting it off by appling a diagional pressure to the prop. That held the shaft screw. Then my Dad turned the wing nut with a neddle nose pliars conter clockwise and it came right off.

My problem and probably yours too is once inside there is a pin holding the prop to the shaft that was broken. I don't know how to get the new pin back in since it is inside the prop with no access from the outside.
