I had this same printer but never was able to reset it. It has some type of sensor on it. That will not let it reset. I was told to unplug it from the computer. Turn the printer off. Reboot the system and plug the USB connector back into it once the system is booted. You may also try to reinstall the printer driver. I also find out that when the printer software says that the ink is low, it really is not. So keep on printing. What I eventually had to do is get a HP. No problem with HP, I can get a refill and it works. Now that I am think about this. See if you can disable the ink monitoring option in the software. I hope this helps. Please rate.

I don't understand the printer message. Even though it may be "compatible" to a Lexmark, you may have to get the Dell cartridge because it will only recognize a Dell branded cartridge. At least try to reinstall the old one and see if you get the same message. If you do, then you may have a printer problem. If not, then the cartridge is the culprit.
is it a refilled cartridge? if it is it wont recognice it u should just buy a new one or keep printing if it lets u because i had the same problem and i had to get a new cartridge because it wouldnt let me print at all
