Having trouble with the ethernet connection i can get online but when i connect the 360 to the modem it doesnt recognize the ip address or modem i have tried the reset factory defaults i have tried...

Have you tried manually assigning the xbox a ip address/subnet mask/gateway? You can figure out what range to use by running "ipconfig" from the command line of a windows computer. Just pick a ip address above 200. i.e. 192.168.2.201/255.255.255.0/192.168.2.1

Test that and see what happens.

Can't get on line

If you are using an access point or a router to get onto the internet you have to ensure that the unit has been set to accept the Xbox 360 as an authorized unit.

Xbox 360 to Linksys wireless modem...

OK I think the easiest way to connect the xbox to the linksys, is if you configure your XBOX to have a static IP address, because the xbox will not have to pick an IP address every time you connect to the internet using the Linksys router and will not have conflicts with other PCs on your house, if you have any. What the linksys does is to convert your Public IP addres into a Private IP address, so example if your ISP gave you an IP address of: 209.235.205.30 that is your IP address for you, then the Linksys converts that number (NAT) into a private IP address so it can be share with many computer inside your house using a single Public IP address. The Linksys always transform it into 192.168.1.?=any number between 1-256 thats the defaults IP address from the manufacturer but you can change it if you want. Ok enough info about NAT or IP jeje.

Where going to use the default IP addres for an easier setup.

First: On your XBOX 360 dashboard go to SYSTEM, then Network Settings, then Edit Settings, then choose the option manual, here put the IP address= 192.168.1.33 (if 33 doesn't work use another numer like 20 or 45 just pick a number between 2 and 250) ; Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0 ; Gateway = 192.168.1.1; DNS options put Automatic. And see if it connects. If it doesn't work just post it here, any problem that you have.

Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter

You need to let it automatically find dhcp and it will grab that ip address. If not then theres something wrong with your router because its now leasing an ip address out to the xbox at all. So make sure dhcp is enabled.

Zoom X6 Adsl Router

You must assign a static IP address on the Xbox 360 that it is outside of the Zoom X6 router's DHCP pool. Also, the Xbox 360 must be in a DMZ. This will prevent the firewall of the router from blocking connections to the Xbox 360.
  1. Assign a Static IP address on the Xbox 360 console:
    • Power on your Xbox 360 and go to the System area.
    • Select Network Settings and then Edit Settings.
    • Select IP Settings. The Edit IP Settings screen opens.
    • Select Manual and then enter the following settings:
      • IP Address: 10.0.0.150 (or any 10.0.0.x IP address, where x is between 100 and 250)
      • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
      • Gateway: 10.0.0.2
    • Select Done, to go back to the Edit Settings screen.
    • Select DNS Settings. The Edit DNS Settings screen opens.
    • Select Manual and then enter the following setting:
      • Primary DNS Server: 10.0.0.2
      • It is not necessary to enter a Secondary DNS Server.
    • Select Done.
    • Power down your Xbox 360.
  2. Access the Zoom Configuration Manager:
    • From a computer that is connected to the Zoom X6, open a web browser and type http://10.0.0.2 in the address line and then press Enter (or Return).
    • Enter the User Name and Password (in lowercvase letters):
      • User Name: admin
      • Pasword: zoomadsl (where "l" is a lowercase letter L)
  3. Create a Virtual Server rule to put the Xbox 360 on a DMZ:
    • In the Zoom Configuration Manager, click on the Advanced Setup icon at the top page.
    • Click on the Virtual Server/DMZ button.
    • On the Virtual Server/DMZ page, enter the following settings:
      • Internal IP Address: 10.0.0.150 (or whichever Static IP address you selected per Step 1)
      • Protcol: DMZ
      • Start Port: 0
      • End Port: 0
    • Click Save Changes
    • Click the Enable box, if you have this option.
    • Click Write Settings to Flash
  4. Plug the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter in to the Xbox 360 console. If you are not sure how to do this, please refer to the manual that came with the Adapter.
  5. Select the Zoom wireless network on the Xbox 360. (Note: The following steps assume you have a working wireless network with WEP or WPA security enabled and you know the Key and SSID of the network. If you have not done this, please refer to theFAQ on setting up a wireless network with the Zoom X6.)
    • Power on your Xbox 360 and go the System area.
    • Select Network Settings and then Wireless Network.
    • Enter the SSID of your network
    • Enter the Security Key for your wireless encryption. This must be either WPA or WEP. If you use WEP, you must enter the HEX digits for the Key you are using.
    • Power the Xbox 360 off, wait a few seconds, and then power the Xbox 360 back on.
    • Go to the System area.
    • Select Network Settings.
    • Select Test Xbox Live Connection. If everything is configured correctly, all the tests will show Pass.
  6. Congratulations! You can now enjoy your Xbox 360 with Xbox Live.

Hi you will need to either do the following:

1. extend the dhcp leasing function within the router by increasing the time for the lease, usually this is in minutes
2. manually assign the ip address so ud ont have this problem ever again
3. renew the ip address via xbox 360
4. it could just mean the xbox live server is temp down.

good luck

X box 360

You can't get an IP address on the Xbox that way. You need to get an IP address from a device that works as a DHCP server such as a residential router. Connecting the Xbox to the PC will do nothing for you.
