My Kenwood KDC-MP425 unit will intermittently lose all power. The fuse is good, and unit was installed by a reputable company. When the power goes, you can't eject disks, turn it back on, and even the "security" LED on the main unit (visible when faceplate removed) is out. The only way to bring it back to life is to remove the negative cable on the battery, wait 10sec and re-attach. This 'resets' the unit, but I lose all presets, clock time, and settings... So what should I do next?

If you are using an amplifier, make sure you are using the blue/white wire to turn it on. The blue wire is power antenna remote turn on and turns off when leaving tuner mode.
Red is usually 12v switched and yellow is constant.I have done many brands and that is the norm but I have not done Kenwoods. Here is a link though.I couldn't find yours but did find a 435.Makers usually stick with the same colors year after year so it should not be an issue. The print is small and i couldn't find a way to largen it.
Apparently, this auxiliary input only works for a Kenwood CD changer or a sirius radio connection. At least that is my conclusion after finding the same problem. Let me know if you figured anything out on this.
