I have heen searching high and low for the 'fix' to this very same problem. I went too the link given for this model # (my phone looks exactly the same, but is model # 27995GE2-A), which led me to the user manual. The instructions said to press and hold the 'Skip' button for 2 seconds....AND IT WORKED!!!! I know it seems like a simple thing, but it meant a lot to my family to be able to hear how many messages and what time they were received in a language we understand! I think I found a solution. On my phone model 27996GE3-A, I unplugged the phone for a few seconds, plugged it back in and waited until the display showed the number of messages and then I pressed the "skip" and "review" buttons at the same time and then it announced the the language changed to english. Hope this helps.
To go back to English you press and hold the Skip button.

Just as the other answers that were left...you just have to press the skip button. Just make sure that you press announce on the cradle...not on the phone...then when you hear the voice in Spanish just press and HOLD the skip button until it changes to English. Good Luck
