Why do webpages load so much more slowly on my laptop than on my phone when both are connected to the same WiFi?

The Laptop web browser and mobile web browsers are different interfaces. The mobile browser is designed to load faster and only load a section of the webpage. whereas the laptop browser loads the entire page. Hope I make sense :)

How to Test Your Webcam Frames Per Second Performance

Have you ever wondered how many frames per second yourwebcam is sending? Choppy video, with out-of-sync audio, is typicallydue to low fps. Anything less than 8-10 fps is going to be noticeable. Now there is a free service that allows anyone to test their webcam fps. You don't have to download anything and you don't even have to register for an account. The service is called mailVU.com, and here's how to use it to measure your webcam performance.

Open any browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari, etc.) and go to http://mailVU.com. You will be prompted to allow access to your webcam. Select Allow.

You can now see yourself on the left side under LiveCamera. If you don't see yourself click on the drop down list ofcameras and select the one that works for you. On the Mac it istypically called USB Webcam.

Click the red Record buttonabove your image to start the recording session. After you click it thebutton will change to Stop and a notification will appear thatrecording is in process. When done click the red Stop button. To view your message simply click the green Play buttonabove your image. Your recording will now play in the right side windowwhile you still see yourself live in the left side Live Camera window.

Look under the Playback window and you will see your webcam fps performance! You can try this test as often as you like, from multiple locations, and with multiple webcams. Try it with different lighting and differentInternet connections (wired/wireless) to determine the best for yoursituation.

By using mailVU.com anyone can quickly and easily test their webcam fps performance. And asan added bonus it also tests your webcam video and audio quality. Ifyou like, you can also record and send free video mail right from thesite. Try it today for free!

Logitech c260..when streaming live video talking to others ...loud beep..horrible echo or delay and picture is pixley and freezes off and on. I did speed test....upload was running at 0.36 mbps.

Try reinstalling the driver, although I would suspect this is more of an ISP issue than a problem with the camera.
Check in the built in software first to see if the performance is good.

I am running hughes net satelite internet on a hughes HN 9000 modem and trying to setup and configure my linksys E3000 wireless router for two hp laptops on direct ethernet connection to our desktop,...

Are you trying to connect the laptops via wireless? Is that where you are seeing 75 mbps? I am assuming you are, and 75 mbps is really not how fast your internet connection is. Rather, that is how fast you are transferring data from your laptop to the wireless router and back. Generally speaking, this should be a way faster connection than your internet is running at. Chances are your internet connection speed is 10 to 20 mbps, which is good and fast.

It is easy to get the two confused, but basically a wireless connection of 75 mbps is an uber fast connection to your wireless router, and only if your actual internet connection was faster than that 75 mbps would you see any slowness due to that.

Wireless N routers are capable of delivering up to 100 mbps connection speeds, but again that is only from your device to the router. The router then goes to your modem and out through the internet. Chances are that connection is not 100 mbps because of interference, which can be walls, other wireless devices, etc.

One way to test your actual internet connection speed is to go to www.speedtest.net and click on one of the links on the map. This will tell you how many mbps you get to the internet.

Webcam Issues

The frame rate setting may be set to "Auto". Maybe the angle of lighting in your house or even other factors like glare, reflections etc may be factores. Try changing to setting to a frame rate that you feel is good enough.
