GE room air conditioner control panel stopped working. The buttons on the control panel does not work and the remote stopped working also. I have use the power surge protector to cut the air conditioner on and off.

Here are the steps to program your GE universal remote (model number 24922cl57252) to work with your Solace Air portable air conditioner:

1. Turn on your Solace Air portable air conditioner.
2. Press and hold the "Setup" button on your GE universal remote until the red indicator light stays on.
3. Enter the code "991" using the number buttons on your GE remote. The red indicator light will turn off.
4. Press the "Power" button on the GE remote.
5. Press the "Up" or "Down" button to try and turn the air conditioner off. If the air conditioner turns off, press the "Setup" button to lock in the code.

If the air conditioner does not turn off, repeat steps 2-5 with a different code from the list below until the air conditioner turns off:
Solace Air Portable Air Conditioner Codes: 0277, 0363, 0364, 0365, 0403, 0454, 0455, 0456, 0457, 0474, 0475, 0494, 0495, 0496, 0497

This unit has a famous problem with the control panel. Try to use the remote to turn it on, instead of the panel. I had the same problem.

After I have been reading up on your unit it appears that the thermostat is not operating correctly. I found this real basic information on installation for your unit. This link I am giving is pretty basic instal schematics. But seems to be something about your thermostat needs to be dialed in or is not working properly.

you can get a universal tv remote that also does air conditioners or a remote that does all air cons but there costly.

adjust your temp set point on the remote if is not working change the remote

I had this happen on a Maytag unit. Condensation was getting behind the control panel, causing the buttons to short out and changing the temp. unscrew the front cover from the unit and carefully pop the tabs loose from the edges and remove the front plastic cover. then look around the control panel area and see if there is any moisture. if so, you will have to find out why it is wet (probably high air humidity). you could try stuffing some rags around the control panel and see if that keeps it dry. if its not wet around there, then you have a short somewhere, or your remote (if you have one) is malfunctioning.

if the stop button doesn't work,it continously run you can shut off circuit breaker for emergency shuting off.if this a proramable a/c unplug your a/c and put it back wait for 15 minutes .and try to run if still doesn't work your holding relay is shorted from control panel,try to call a service technician to check the actual control panel defective.have a nice day,don;t forget to rate me,thank's a lot.

THE CLICKING SOUND IS A RELAY PULLING IN ITS LIKE A SWITCH CONNECTING TWO WIRES. THIS IS A GOOD SOUND BUT IS USALLY FOLLOWED BY SOMETHING COMING ON FAN ETC... CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR UNIT HAS AN LED LIGHT ON IT AND HOW MANY TIMES IF ANY DOES IT BLINK?
