Tv was gave to me. When you first turn it on it takes about 10 minutes to warm up and get focus. Then when it comes on the color is weak and fades to black and white at times, and tried to adjust color from menu but no matter what I do it stays the same.
This type of problem is mainly due to problems in the IC and hence the tv
loses its focus and color patterns. You will need to check your tv IC
and most likely get it replaced which shouldn't be too hard if you know how to solder.
Let me know what you think when you check this, if you need any help let me know, also be aware of the capacitors which can shock you with an enormous charge.
Depending on the age of the tv, other parts may be contributing to the problem.
repair shops will not usually give a free estimate, it will be standard to charge at least $50 just to look at it.

They will be on the main board and should be labeled STK-150 or some other number, they are the first thing I would replace and shouldn't cost too much, they can be bought at an electronics store like Radio Shack.

If you can, take it to a shop where they will give a free estimate. Then ask them what exactly needs to be replaced. If you have trouble finding one, call the troubleshooting phone number. (You can probably find it online). Then I would suggest looking on ebay to find the part for a cheap price.
Your TV needs to get repaired. Take it to the nearest repair shop and get the lamp replaced. It can cost upwards of 150 dollars though.

Witch tube needs replaced? I found a dail on bottom tubes, and adjusted them and it helped a little. Also when I try and line up the color + the vitical line is wider fuze and squilly.
I have a Hitachi #46ux17k given to me. No matter what I do I cant get the color bright, I tried adjusting the knob at bottom of tubes and it helped very little. Also when I try and line up colors + line the verticle line is wider and fuzzy and some times its squiggley. And also the color goes black and white and back to color. I would like to fix this TV myself so any suggestions will help.
