Somewhere in the tv's menu there will be something called autotune or channel settings. while in that part of the menu you should find something to change settings. also there are many inputs on the back of big screen tv's, you might try a different input like cable/antenna for instance. it may take a two way splitter to split the signal for both digital cable and analog cable. by next february the analog part of the cable may not work anyway.

Jvc 56 inch television went black, then a large thumping noise, and I tried shutting off the power and could not, so I had to unplug the television; the television now will not come on.

sounds like the WP30 or WP74 series that has a convergence shutdown which will usually cause the thumping through the speakers. Unplug the convergence power board and see if the set will power up. Do not remove the rear cover the board is up front behind the speaker grille. Never remove the rear cover on a JVC rear projection as it can damage the digital circuits due to the safety interlock on various JVC models.

2004 jvc 56in projection tv, has sound but no picture

Hello

Change the channel to ensure the problem isn't with the current station broadcast. Check the channel at a later time to see if the broadcast problem is resolved.

The type of programming you are trying to watch determines the proper input source. Press the "Input" button on the remote control to change to the proper input source. For example, if the source is a cable or satellite service, press the "Input" button until "TV" mode is selected. A component device, such as a DVD player, will operate on a different input source, such as "Video-1."

Check the coaxial cable, which connects your television broadcast service provider to your television. You need to securely connect the coaxial cable to the "ATSC/Digital Cable In" jack on the back of the television, and the other end to the wall jack. If the cable appears damaged, replace it with a new cable.

If you are using a component device as the source of your programming, ensure the component cables are plugged into the "Video Input" and "Audio Input" jacks on the back of the television or that the S-Video cable is plugged into the "S-Video Input" jack on the back of the television. Connect the other end of the cables to the "Video Output" and "Audio Output" jacks or "S-Video Output" jack on the component device.

Does it have a built in tunner? src4223@aol

It has an NTSC (analog) tuner. You'll need a digital to analog converter to watch most stations. Low power stations are still available in analog in some areas.

I hope this helps.

Double vision on tv with purple and green colors

Hello,

This television set, as well as most rear-projections, is prone to convergence driver problems. There are two large chips (STK392-110's) in the TV that need to be replaced, as well as some resistors that are likely damaged as well. Any competent TV repair shops should be able to repair this TV for 200-300 dollars. It is important to note that if the back of the TV is taken off without the proper prep., the Digital input (DVI) will be disabled permanently.

Hope this helps you...

Dcm

It is located in the front of the TV behind the speaker grille and access panel its the small narrow board on the left looking from the front. PLEASE NOTE do not remove the back panel on that model with the power still hooked or operate that model without the back panel in place or you will harm the digital section of the TV and cause major problems that model has a safety feature that will wipe out the digital memory if the backis removed while the cord is still plugged in
