Overheated and now won't load

It overheated and now won't go past the windows start up screen. It WILL go to the Windows screen but then I get the blue kernal of death and it loops around to restarting. I tried to use Ubuntu to get my docs of but it won't boot from that drive. I replaced the DVD drive and still get nowhere. What do you suggest?

Hi teach- It sounds like a problem of thermal shutdown. This is a very common problem with Toshibas. You can try sucking out all the slots as much as possible with a vacuum cleaner or shop vac. The more powerful the better. Hold them there for a while and try to get as much dust and dirt (or hair if you have a pet) You may very well have a clogged heat sink. You'll have to take off the bottom if it comes to that. Try the first part of this solution. Let me know what happens. If it fixes it great! If not we'll proceed from there and I'll be here to help you out. Thanks.

Did you try what I suggested> How do you know that the heat sink is not clogged and causing the problem? The suggestions we give you are the most obvious things that can be causing the problem. If you've tried EVERYTHING I suggested I mentioned I would be happy to help you further. Not all problems can be solved on the first solution. That's why it is better if you don't rate until we/ve tried several things. I wouldn't just tell you to try one thing and if that didn't leave you hanging. My only goal is to solve your problem. Many peiple are surprised to see the amount of dust than build uo inside their unit. Is there some reason that leads you to believe my other suggestion will not help your problem? I only want to solve your problem. Let me know please. Thanks.
