I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The Sanitaire is a Eureka either a household or commercial vacuum and the plastic fan blade will push on but the fan pulley I believe is a clockwise and you tighten down with a wrench, there is only one way the fan pulley will screw on so you can make a mistake, if you have questions please feel free to contact your local vac dealer.
