Acer is going straight to a black screen after the acer logo in startup....it just shows a tiny blinking line. It goes no farther. I need help fast

Apparently your Acer cannot find the operating system. As soon as the Acer logo comes up, there should appear in one of the bottom corners "F" & a number should appear. Immediately start pressing that F number (top row of keyboard). This should take you to a boot screen. Scroll down to boot sequence. Hit enter. Make sure boot-up sequence is CD or floppy drive first, second should be HDD, then escape. Restart computer. Should then boot off CD drive. I am assuming you have an operating system (XP, windows, etc.). Let me know if this doesn't work.

Downloaded windows xp and screen when black

Turn the computer on, and leave it for 10 minutes.Once the 10 minutes goes by, press the caps lock key several times and see if the caps lock light goes off and on. If the light goes off and on, the computer is likely working, just no display is making it to the monitor. If this is the case, the problem could be your monitor, your cable, or your video card. Try another monitor. Try another cable. If none of that works, it has to be the video card or the motherboard.

If the caps lock key does NOT go one and off, then your computer is not booting at all, and it could be the motherboard, the power supply, memory gone bad, or some other hardware failure.

Starting problem

Immediately after seeing the Dell logo, keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "menu" (white text over a black background)
giving "startup" options for Windows XP.

Select "Safe Mode" and see if you can start in that mode.
Then, use "System Restore" to go "back" in time, to the most-recent checkpoint (date/time) where your computer _DID_ work.

Restore to that point, and restart.

Windows logo comes on and then followed by a black screen and tried safe mode/VGA and still the same and the cursor is moving about the black sreen and nothing else-- could you help it's windows...

Try pressing the F8 key at the startup (after power-on and before the logo comes up).
Choose "Fail-safe" mode using the arrow keys on your keyboard and press enter twice.

When windows is in failsafe mode there is a number of ways you can fix the problem.

Try this:
Open "My computer", right-click on your harddrive and choose "properties"
From there scan the drive for errors (mark the 2repair automatically") and fix them.
Reboot the pc...

Good luck

Toshiba satellite with windows xp will only show black sreen and wont let windows xp repair

Your description of the symptom shows that your operating system installation has been corrupted. Fastest and easiest way to resolve the Issue using the "Recovery and application disk" (it comes with laptop) to perform full system recovery. I would like to remind you full system recovery will erase everything saved on Hard drive. You can check possible option on http://support.toshiba.com

Sceptre D50X black screen

If a monitor shows a normal screen at startup but goes bad after the Windows logo disappears, your Windows video setting is probably not compatible with the monitor. You can start Windows in safe mode to select a compatible resolution for your monitor.
