I cannot find the manual for my Meridian Northern Telecom M7310 NT8B20 corded phone... We have it set to beep every 30 seconds when a line is on hold. How do I change it to not beep? And how do I turn it back on? (I need to leave a couple lines on hold all day, while I'm the only one in the office, but I want the feature back on tomorrow).
I've already read that. It does not say anything about the hold beep. It only tells you how to store speed dials and how to make a phone call.I've already read that. It does not say anything about the hold beep. It only tells you how to store speed dials and how to make a phone call.

First press feature *0 then the intercom button this will tell you the extension number. write this down.
Press feature **266344
then 266344
should now say terminals and sets on the phone.
press 1st lit arrow on the left side of phone
enter extension number or press find and enter extension number.
press the top arrow on left side of phone until you see line assignment
press list
when you get to the new line press change until the line says appear only(no ring) or appear and ring(rings on the phone)
press rls when done
that's a setting within the PBX system. See if you can find your user manual, or contact a business telecom company to see if they can provide you a copy.
There is no power cord required for an M7310 set. The set gets all the power from the Nortel telephone system.
Try plugging in your phone where another phone is active to ensure that your phone that you want to install is working. The phone flashes, then stops, then flashes, then stops... you just have to be patient when testing.
Possible Troubles:
-> It maybe the line cord, the cord that plugs in from the wall to the phone that can be damaged.
-> the jack might be dead (wiring in the jack is pulled off) or inactive (there is no jumper from the office to the telephone system).
-> the phone port from the telephone system might be dead.
Try unplugging the set wait for about 15 seconds then plug the set back in... i he set will flash for a while, stop, and flash for awhile... just be patient and it will return.
Then test to see if the Feature, Rls and hold buttons work again.
PS those buttons are hard coded, and cannot be erased, they may fail, but they will not erase.
Maybe you also have a stuck button, that is affecting the set?
You probably need to be more specific as to which tone is annoying :-)
The ON HOLD source is what the caller hears when he's put on hold. It can be adjusted in SYS programming to Tones, Music, or None.
The HELD REMINDER tone is what your phone does when you put a call on hold. It can be set for none to 180 seconds in 30 second increments (at least on a CICS).
The programming is done using a 7310 or better phone in system programming.
