Flat Screen TV , 2 Years old. Model LG 26LC46 LCD. From cold takes 15 mins to obtain picture. Starts grey/black, then Vertical narrow stripes, then broken distorted picture before picture settles. Normally runs through freeview satellite box but same problem when ariel runs direct to T.V. Is this a common problem with LG ? Any suggestions?

T'Con board fault. Check and replace it. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
The screen is failing. A conductive strip from a flex connector to the glass panel is losing contact when cold. Any warranty left? extended warranty? Usually not repairable, screen has to be replaced and cost as much as a new set....
I'd say about the blinking to a black screen would be your cable provider. As for the stripes that means that your board panels can be going bad, you can try updating the firmware of the TV to help but if that doesn't work you're getting very close to full failure on the TV.
Hi
If there is no picture behind the stripe and the edges are well-defined, then one of the display driver ICs has failed. Philips displays can be made by several manufacturers - usually Samsung. The ICs are bonded to the flexible ribbon in most cases, and replacement is an expensive specialist job - and in many cases is simply not possible.
A shadow on the picture is much better - usually due to interference.

This is an old post but maybe it will help others. You will have to take the back off of the TV. On the bottom you will see ribbon cables coming from the screen and connecting to 3 PC boards. Take the screws out that holds the cable down. Underneath you will see 4 resistors marked 100. All you have to do is re-solder the resistors and your vertical line will be gone. You need to be good at soldering or you could damage the ribbon. The only ones that you have to re-solder is the ones in line with the lines on the screen.
