New Atwood 6 gal water heater has very low hot water output flow - Dealer just replaced my old Atwood 6 gal water heater with one of the new units that has LP/Elec/Heat Exchanger design. Now my hot water flow is very low at any sink or in shower. Is there a flow restrictor or check valve or filter that could be the culprit? Installation is in a 1996 Jayco Designer MH.

SOURCE: Atwwod 10 gal gas/elec water heater won't work on elec.

THE LIGHTED SWITCH SHOULD BE THE 12V ENERGY SOURCE TO ACTIVATE THE LP SIDE OF THE HEATER. THERE SHOULDN'T BE A LIGHTED SWITCH FOR THE 110 SIDE. THERE SHOULD BE A SWITCH OR A COMBINATION OF SWITCHES. ONE ON THE WALL LIKE A LIGHT SWITCH AND ONE MOUNTED BEHIND THE HEATER.

Look to left of burner, below pressure relief valve, behind foam cover. Letters should be THERM on one and ECO on the other. Peel foam back and you'll see a little disc, with 2 male spade connectors. Don't mix up the one marked THERM, with ECO, they are different temperature settings. You might want to remove the thermal cut-out in the plastic tube and connect the wires direct (your basically going to by-pass it) and see if that cures it first. Just disconnect one end from Therm, and other from red wire, and put red wire (female spade) on male terminal at therm. I've seen them cause similar symptoms. If that cures it, buy a new thermal cut-off and install it as soon as you can, as it's a safety item in case of flame-up from burner, it shuts of power to gas valve etc, to eliminate fire.

There should be access from inside RV to get to the back of water heater. Make sure you have the hydro breaker shut off. On the back there is a cover where hydro wires etc, go in to. That cover has to be removed to give you access to element. Once cover is off, you should see element down low. You may want to test for voltage at element, then check switch ( on side or top of cover) and reset at ECO, (push in on little reset in center of ECO ) just in case one of them was the problem, and save changing the element. Then carefully test for voltage at element terminals. If voltage there and not getting hot replace element.

I have an Atwood GGA-8E about 6 months old was getting hot water but now the water is only luke warm, any adjustments?

There should be a temperature setting on the gas valve. It should be on top or front and have several settings normally vacation, warm and hot. Rotate dial towards hot setting to increase water temperature. Hope this helps. Thanks

Brand new Atwood 6 gal hot water heater, stainless, has leaked at one corner since I installed about one + yrs. ago. Can it be fixed without removal?

If you can find yourself a GOOD welder in your area that has a tig welder, or a mig welder with stainless steel wire option all you would have to do is empty the tank of water. Or better yet, if possible take it out and return it, if it's really only a year old these things should be under warranty still.

Does yours have the little cut-out diode looking thing in the plastic jacket installed between power wire and thermostat? If yes, remove it from the circuit and connect female spade of wire, to male spade of thermostat,(just removing it to by-pass it) and try it now. Let me know what happens.

How big of a job is it to replace the tank on an atwood 6 gallon water heater

Just to let you know, with the cost of changing a tank in any unit of a water heater you would be better off replacing the whole unit, then instaling a new unit, then maybe taking the old one apart in your spare time if you just want to see how it's done, most of the time if the tank is leaking or needs repacing for any reason it is time to change it out,, good luck
