Bose Cubes I had encountered the same problem, except the teflon coupler broke on me, however in my journey to try and repair the speakers, i noticed that the cubes can be seperated by using a strong flat item (i used a screw driver for an rc car) **** as a pocket knife. the glue holding them together isnt very strong and will give. you just have to get around all four sides after removing the speaker grill. then you can get to the coupler to snap it back in place. ~Daniel

How to put together a double cube bose speaker

The Bose speakers with the cubes and bass module are all interconnected with a proprietary cable available from Bose, if lost you get a replacement by called 1-800-444-BOSE.
When you connect the speakers all wires run from the receiver to the base module first, then out to each of the speakers. All terminals on the bass module are labeled.
The Bose cubes are all identical and can be used in the front or back positions.
Try to keep them at ear level or aimed at the listening position for best sound.

Bose 'Double' Cube Speaker Came Apart

Carefully unsnap the speaker cover you may want to use a jewelers screwdriver or a small flat tip to assist with getting it off. Once its off unscrew the 4 screws completely and then carefully wiggle the speaker from he cube. Once the speaker is out of the way reach in the cube and reset the plastic coupling so its flush with the inside top of the cube. With both cubes on there sides and the rubber washer and swivel ring in place press the bottom cube, with your finger(s) inside the cube on the plastic couping, up into th top cube until you here or feel it snap into place. Once it snaps into place, adjust the insulation in the speaker then wiggle the speaker back into the cube and carefully put the screws back in. Once this is accomplished snap the speaker coverback on and that's it. It takes ten minutes once you get the speaker cover off.

Replacement speaker (upper) for Bose double Cube.

try a music specialty store or radio shack if you want to only replace the small speakers inside the cubes. If you want to replace the whole cube, there are others out there. Look on ebay and or amazon I think the brand is JA Audio. A knock off of the bose cubes that can be used as stand alone speakers without the module.

Speaker question

The Bose cube systems are SYTEMS for a very good reason. They're made for people who want good sound but don't want to manipulate the hardware much. The speakers and amps are designed for each other ONLY, not only electrically but through soundshaping to provide the smooth final result. The design is for you to feed the electronics a Line Level source and the magic and distribution happens internally. These are NOT mix 'n' match components. The special connectors are a clue. The Sony will probably blow them up.

Changing out my monitor speakers to bose cube speakers

You probably can do it as long as the speakers there now are 8 ohm speakers and you must use the bose bass module with the cubes because the crossover is built into the bass module for the cubes to work. If you just wire up the cubes you will mess the cubes up and they want sound right at all. The cubes are no good without their bass module in other words. Hope this helps.

No output from Bose Lifestyle 12 system

Sounds like you have a problem in the circuits, which of course would take an experience technician to find and repair. But a 1994 electronic item has pretty much reached the end of its expected life cycle (sadly, compared to older equipment which is still working great). Basically, it sounds like the power amp circuit is shutting down a few seconds after startup. Might check to make sure no speakers or cables have shorts, which could activate a protection shutdown circuit. If any of the cubes don't hiss when you turn it on, that would be the first place to look for a problem.
