no check your windows firewall.
and antivirus firewall
also check in internet explorer.
SOURCE: acer aspire netbook
have you checked control panel internet connections to see if your connection is even showing in there
If it is I would right click then status and then repair
if that does'nt help then you may need the driver updated
SOURCE: acer aspire 9410, cannot connect to the internet using dial-up
According to ACER your model supports a modem, Lan and a wireless LAN These specs are attached for you your info :-
Modem
56K ITU V.92 PPT approved, Wake-on-Ring ready
Ethernet (LAN)
Gigabit Ethernet, Wake-on-LAN ready
WLAN: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection (dual-band
tri-mode 802.11a/b/g) Wi-Fi CERTIFIED solution, supporting Acer
SignalUp wireless technology
Connecting to the Internet using a wireless or a LAN DSL or cable connection is a lot faster than dialup, and you cannot compare this type of internet connection with a dialup Internet connection as they are different technologies.
To trouble shoot your modem follow these instructions :-
To check the modem connection/phone line, connect a phone to the modem's phone line and see if you get a dial tone on this line and you can dial out on this line. If it is OK then connect the phone line back into the modem and see if you can connect to the Internet using your dial up connection.
If it doesn't work click on Control Panel - Phone and Modem - click Modem tab - click Properties - click Diagnostic tab - click Query Modem and if you DON'T get a list of modem responses then either the modem is faulty or the modem driver needs reinstalling.

The Default gateway settings seem to be the problem. Try the steps below:
1.Click Start
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Network Connections
4. Then click either the Local Area Connection Properties
Click TCP/IP Properties,
make sure that IP address and DNS are set to "automatically obtain."
Click the Advanced button and make sure that nothing is entered for Default Gateway and on the DNS tab
repeat from step 4 for wireless connection properties also, if you use a wireless connection.
You may also switch off the modem (and router if you have one) and turn it on after a few seconds.
Reboot the computer.
Good luck

Have you tried the same connection with another computer?
What is the operating system?
