Just bought a brand new jvc cd receiver and it won't turn on.

Please check if the wiring was done correctly. check the ground the all time +12 volt and the swittched +12 volt. If the set does not power up then I suggest that you MUST take the warrranty claim being a new set. Refer to the dealer before you can open the player so as not to void the warranty

How do you set the clock on a jvc kd-g230 car radio

There is a misprint on manual concerning setting the clock. This is the case for similar JVC mobile head units.

The proper way to set the clock for this unit is:

1.)Hold down 'SEL' button count to 3 seconds
2.)Immediately after release of 'SEL' button hit the '>>|' button

This will allow you to enter 'PSM' menu. Every time you press '>>|' it will cycle between, 'CLOCK HOUR','CLOCK MINUTE', and 'Demo' Mode.

3.)Adjust settings by using the 'turn knob' and make sure 'Demo' mode is set to 'Demo Off' for the clock to stay set.

Clock setting

Hold the SEL button down for more than 3 seconds. A sub menu appears. Use the track select arrow key to select the hours, rotate the volume knob to correct hour. Press track select key to select minutes, rotate volume to appropriate minute. press select again to finish. If this doesn't help, go to jvc.com, then go to support, then user manuals, enter model number. You can dowload the entire manual for free.
Good luck
