Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

You can obtain an english Camera User Guide and a Software User Guide from the Canon website. If you want to get a hard copy you will need to contact your local Canon Service Centre and ask if they can order one in for you to purchase.
My Canon Ixus 70 will not switch on although the battery seems fully charged have you a solution please or does anyone have similar problems and their possible solutions thanks,

These instructions are for the IXUS 70, even though the category is PowerShot SD500/IXUS 700.
1. Press the down arrow (bottom of main control button)
2. Press the up or down button until you see the icon for continuous shooting, which looks like three squares overlaid on each other.
3. Shoot your pictures. As long as you keep the shutter button depressed, the camera will continue to shoot until the memory card is full.
To return to single frame shooting, follow steps 1. and 2. but select the single square in step 2.
