Question about Braun MR 5550 M HC + BC MultiQuick Professional Handheld Blender
My GF broke our Braun handheld mixer type 4191 500W, trying to mix some figs, the mixer doesn't do anything anymore. I like the mixer very much. I poked a while trying to open it and look what is wrong. This is what i found to open it. On the top, where the numbers are to adjust the speed: remove gently that lid. Below that you'll find 2e lid with the numbers on (1-5), this you can get open by pressing inside the 2 holes with 2 little screwdrivers, push these 2 black tips away and the 2e lid can be removed. Unfortunately i broke my mixer up trying. Now it's open i see how it was. Good luck guys

Part 1: Opening up the Braun handheld blender/mixer turbo 600, typ 4191.
Having tried al sorts of ways to open our 600 Watt 4191 Braun, I eventually took a handsaw and a Dremel. Since at the tools mounting end there seemed to be a joint, I took the saw there first hoping to open that joint with only little damage. I was able to take to motor and the front part of the machine out of the grip-unit. (Irreversible!!)

I don't know if this will be helpful but I personally have experienced a number of small motorized products where there is a micro fuse placed in series with the motor windings and actually wrapped with-in the motor windings. Unfortunately by the time it is discovered it is not worth trying to repair. I would no be surprised if this is your situation. And yes, they put the fuse in the windings in addition to the normally accessable one. Go figure. Take care.

Unfortunately my braun 4191 motor is no longer working - I suspect it is the thermal fuse that others have alluded to. I would happily buy a new unit, because I already have all the attachments and have found this a very versatile product, but it seems the blender unit is no longer available to purchase anywhere, unless otehrs no differently?

The fuse inline with the motor windings that Mark57702 mentions is most likely a thermal fuse. Thermal fuses open when the surrounding temperature exceeds the trip temperature value of the fuse. If care is taken and one has technician experience, these fuses can be replaced.
Fuses that are not imbedded with the motor windings are usually current overload fuses and blow when there is an over current condition.
No one yet has answered the question of how to open these wand type blenders from Braun.

If it is the same as the Braun 4179 (300w) hand blender it can't be done other than to replace the flex at the top. The rest of the unit cannot be opened and is non-reparable

SOURCE: Braun type 4191 blender shaft
I had the same problem, the authorized service told they cant fix it, so i tried it. First, I show you the solution:
You see the black one you attach the heads to. The axis come from the motor with the little teeths: the black plastic wore away that's why the motor works but the end doesnt rotate.
You can simply pull the black one out with a pliers with medium force and if you get a new one(thats the hardest, they wont sell you) that will works.
For the mankind, ive totally flatten out my type 4191, so i show you some pics, how to solve yours:
if you had problem with the motor, simply cut it half. You wont harm anything, the motor is in a metal cylinder.
If you have some promblem with the electronic part, its in the end of the blender. You can open it at the top, but you cant reach anything form there, nor here, sad story.
finally some photos from the bottom:
