Whats wrong with my viewfinder?

When I look through the view finder it shows blurry images. It is not dirty or foggy, it just doesn't focus. But when I take a photo the image is perfectly clear. Help?

I have a related problem with my S5iS model. I have just taken it in for a warranty job as it has difficulty focussing. I previously had an S2iS and it was great. I upgraded to the 5 and while I am still happy I notice I have to press the shutter halfway a few times to manage a good focus. I had none of this trouble with the 2 model. At least you are lucky in a way to have good pics but it would be frustrating to get the view out of focus. Have you tried looking in your menu and making sure the image stabiliser is working or maybe try disabling it and then doing a test picture.

Mine is the same way. The viewfinder is blurry **** the screen is fine. Makes it very hard to tell if the lens has focused.

Try adjusting the viewfinder diopter. It's a little wheel next to the viewfinder that adjusts to your eyesight.

Why is the image in the view finder blurry

There could be several reasons.

The camera isn't focused. Adjust the focus.

The diopter is not set properly. Some cameras have a viewfinder diopter adjustment. This is similar to putting eyeglasses on the camera. Just as things will look blurry to you if you look through someone else's glasses, the viewfinder will be blurry if the diopter is not set properly for your vision. I wish I could tell you how to adjust this (or even whether your camera has it) but since you didn't bother to specify the model of your Olympus camera...

Images are blurry through my view finder, my mirror, lense and view window are clean. whats going on?

There is a small knob or lever to adjust the viewfinder lens dioptric focus to suit your eye. It probably got turned by mistake to a setting unsuitable for your vision. If you wear contacts make sure you have them on before you do the adjustment. Glasses usually block the view but it is up to you whether you wish to make the viewfinder adjustment with them on or off. See page 38 here:

Adjust view finder focus as you will see setting there, to view correct focus in view finder itself.
Camera is just fine because it is taking good focus pictures.

Brand new Canon EOS Rebel XS. Suddenly, image in the view finder is blurry. Auto focus seems to be working, and pictures are coming out fine. But sometimes, the autofocus focuses on the wrong thing, and so...

Next to the viewfinder ther is a diopter adjustment so you can change the focus in the viewfinder. this is so if you need glasses the camera can be set for you. Start by focusing the camera on something, then slide to turn the diopter adjustment until it looks sharp and try not to bump it.

Canon rebel xt 1. image looks blury in eye

1. The viewfinder's diopter is probably out of focus (doesn't affect Auto Focus of photos). There's a dial and a +/- symbol next to the viewfinder. Turn the dial till you can see clearly through it. Alternative reason: The glass in the viewfinder is dirty/foggy. Use camera cleaning solution (a drop) on a cotton bud to clean it.

2. Malfunction needs Canon Service Centre to take a look at.

View finder

Ok. On your viewfinder, there might be a round dial. Turn it to adjust focus. Otherwise, sometimes viewfinders are like that... blurry, especially electronic.

Whats wrong with my viewfinder?

I don't have my camera with me, so I may be off on the exact placement, and I hope I'm not telling you something you already know and the problem is worse, but on the left side of the viewfinder itself is a tiny dial that adjusts the focus. Just look the the viewfinder and play with the dial to adjust to your eyesight.

Blurred image

The viewfinder image should look sharp & clear, as long as the camera is turned ON. If the camera is OFF, the viewfinder image will blur. At least this is how it works on my C2000z. If your viewfinder is always blurry, I would return the camera for exchange.
