How to connect speakers to a Dell computer that has 7.1 intergated sound card

How to connect speakers to a Dell computer that has 7.1 intergated sound card.

This applies to: Dell Inspiron 530 and 531

Note if you are just connecting standard stereo speakers (2.0 or 2.1) you will just connect them to the green port. In adddtion if the speakers are 4.0 or 4.1 you would connect the rear speakers into the black port.

In regards to 5.1 speakers you would hook up the above listed connections and then connect the center and sub speakers to the orange port. The picture below shows the ring assignments for the center and sub-woofer connection if you are not using computer speakers.

For the 7.1 configuration you would hook up the above listed connection and then you would connect your side speakers to the white port. Note the side speakers are left/right speakers so the ring assignment is a standard setup with tip being left and the second ring being right.

Hello there,

here is the sound card for the DELL
Sound Card Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio up to Creative SoundBlaster® X-Fi Xtreme Audio (D)†

that means you have a sound card and the port should be in the back and should be green.

Audio front panel - one headphone and one
microphone connector

This is for a headset .

Here is what i would try make sure the speakers are powering by turning on the right speaker the LED should light up if it is then it has power, Next i would try the back of the PC speaker port , if you have everything connected correctly we move onto the next step.

Ok go to
Control panel
Hardware and sound
then click on the green sound link that should pop up a window to configure the speakers, you should see the devices in the list and be able to configure them if you do not let me know and i can help you with the next step.
