Question about Samsung LN-R408D 40 in. LCD HDTV

Broken HDMI port

HDMI port in rear of TV seems to be no longer connected to board. How much would that cost to get fixed and/or how easy is it to fix yourself.

I had the same problem three weeks ago. Like many have said soldering is not an easy job. I called a local tv repair shop that is an authorized servicer of Samsungs. There isn't an HDMI piece so your going to have to replace the whole board and it is costly. It ran me $400.

Its a soldering job and you need to remove the board from the tv, not easy and not for the faint of heart

After you are sure you have hooked up the receiver to the TV properly and with the proper setting in the menu, if you are still having problems then you need to change the main board (the one with all the jacks on it). You will have to take the back from off the set. You will have to get the number from off the board itself and it should start with BN94-. Do a search on ebay with the part number or go to shop jimmy.com for price and availability. Also try to google search. The board is easy to change just unplug and unscrew from the panel.

All hdmi connections not working on a samsung ue40c8000 every thing else seems to be ok. done a factory reset does this sound like a new board costly? regards. Norman

The tv Samsung refurbish main tv Turner signal board will set u back like $120-130 bucks + shipping and handleling and u must have to have some basic mechanicals skills like take things aparts and putting it back togther again to fixed this tv just for the used of those HDMI hubs ports again. My questions to u is?Does ur tv used 100% must require those useages of those HDMI hubs ports. Not just used the Samsung tv as is.My Samsung tv have the same problems.I just work around it by skipping all the useages of all those HDMI ports hubs of the tv altogther. Most poeple just used about like 3 HDMI ports hubs for like a HD cable box or DVR cable box and a PS3,WII games systems or Blu Ray DVD player. All these devices can go through hook up for like a RCA component cables hook up like AV1,AV2 and last one a HD hookup by a RCA component cable just add 2 more components wires like a green and purple connections or just buy a set of RCA components cable that design for a HD output.I did that, must more reliable set up too.Because those RCA components cables set up have more plastics in it connections for insulation holes for little shorts and sparks better than those HDMI ports hubs and HDMI cables barely help and the plastic for insulation is a joke almost non exiten. Those all dam HDMI ports hubs are all link into one path way on the circuit board, one dies or got shorted all dies and get shorted out.

There is a separate IC on the main board that does nothing but process the HDMI signal, basically if your using the cable, AVI or any other input other than HDMI and chances are that is bad, it can be replaced if you have a lot of electronic experience, its a $3 chip but its not easy to replace..I would replace the main board if you can find one, sometimes main boards are hard to find..below is a link to the service manual.

The HDMI port on my Olevia Model 337-B11 LCD tv quit working. Is there an easy fix?

Without replacing the main board, probably not. Did you try another HDMI source to verify the TV is at fault? If it is the cheapest fix is to use component only.
