What software should I use to bypass my university internet restrictions?

If the games are in fact, "yours" then you can configure your game server to publish on the normal HTTP port (80). Then, you will have no trouble at all.

I hope this is helpful,

Does remote access is secure?

In general, VNC connections over the Internet are not secure, since the traffic sent is not encrypted in any way so it is not advisable to use them for sensitive data.

What is remote access server? And what does it enables me to do?

Remote access allows you to connect your PC from a remote location using the Internet. The entire working environment of your computer is brought over the wire to wherever you are, eliminating the need for synchronizing between laptops and desktops.

Windows home server remote access - cant get it to work

It's probably not about RDP. I think we are talking about the homeserver remote access that allows you to up/download stuff to/from yourshares, run the server console or remote control a workstation in your homenetwork from outside (from the internet).

The whole procedure is a little complex. In short, you have to:
- start remote access in the WHS console (settings - remote access)
- create and configure a dyndns domain name (or something similar) to find your server from outside
- configure the user profiles to allow remote access. They need to have "strong" passwords.
- forward the port numbers 80, 443 and 4125 to the servers IP address on your internet router.
- forward the port 3389 too, in case you want to use the RDP protocol to access the servers remote desktop.

That should be it.
If you have several routers in your net, you have to forward the ports from the first one to the second and from there to the home server.

Since we don't know where exactly you are stuck, you should post a little more information.

Hope this helps.

How to limit remote access to a Termional Server

The best way to do this that I've found is to restrict the access via your firewall. Typically, Terminal server is listening on port 3389. So you would create rules in your firewall that will block any traffic to this port from IP addresses or subnets that you don't trust. While you're at it, you should shut down all other ports to everyone if you're not using them.
