I recently purchased a new
unlocked Motorola V1050 mobile phone (Vodafone branded) from Australia.
I already have a Vodafone Prepay SIM, which I have used while in New
Zealand in a different cell phone and which was recently topped up. I
am currently back in the US.
When I switched on the V1050, there was a message to enter a security
(or maybe subsidy) code/password. I entered 1234, as suggested by the
manual; when this didn't work, I tried some other key combinations.
After about three attempts, the screen displayed a message saying
"contact operator." The phone will not allow any other commands to be
entered, other than to indicate emergency dialing and to enter 1, 0 or
9. No menus can be displayed. It does display the Vodafone splash
screen when powering up.
I tried replacing the Vodafone SIM with two others (from Cingular) but
the "contact operator" message appeared both times. I attempted to have
the phone unlocked locally but the person who tried it said he thought
the phone already was unlocked. Trying to reset the phone holding down
the # and * keys when powering it on brings up a blue and white screen
(which started after he attempted to unlock the phone).
I have tried to contact both Vodafone and Motorola without success. I
believe the phone is unlocked but for some reason the SIM card may be
blocked or disabled in the phone (although the manual indicates that I
should see a message that says SIM Blocked, which I don't). If I placed
the Vodafone SIM or the Cingular SIMs in my other mobile phone (which
is on the Cingular network), they both work fine.
Any suggestions on how to reset or restore the V1050 phone to operating condition? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks for any help.
Firstly your phone is locked ...once it ask u for a subsidy password it means that the phone is locked to the sim card or the provider your trying to use.The message contact provider means that you have tried the incorrect subsidy code over eight times so the phone would automatically show the message contact service provider or contact operator. You need to get the subsidy code for this phone off ebay at www.cellunlock.net or from anyone of the many sellers of motorola codes. The codes cost us$7.99.I can get the code for you for a cost of us $10.00 if u don't have access to ebay or paypal.
