DIRT DEVIL MODEL 08245
BRUSE HAS NO TORQUE, HOW DO I OPEN UNIT TO GET TO TURBO UNIT

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Most of the turbo units are a snap together or they have hidden screws to un-screw to open the top and the bottom of the turbo unit, please check with you owner’s manual under trouble shooting and they will instruct you on how to dis-assemble the unit, and also please check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

My dirt devil has no main suction

You need to go a bit deeper in the unit to get what is clogged. it is most likely clogged on the inside of the unit. Take off the back and remove the inner workings following the path of the suction. Not hard to do just sucks.

DIRT DEVIL MADEL 08245 BRUSE DOSEN'T ROTATE

I had the same problem and fixed it to where it would work OK, althought not 100%. 1. Disconnect the hose that goes to the roller brush area. 2. Press the button right below the power switch while sliding the handle what ever direction it will go to release it from the body of the vac. 3. Remove 3 screws from the handle halves. 4. Remove 2 screws from a keyed black plastic piece that hold the handle halves together. 5. Carefully separate the handles halves from the clear plastic piece in the center that allows you to view the brush and belt. 6. If the belt is broken or missing, replace it and reassemble, if the belt is OK, remove the roller and test if the bearings spin freely. 7. If they don't, then remove the clip or clips of each end that hold the bearing(s) in place. (Work in a controlled environment so that when the little clip goes flying you'll be able to locate it without moving the refridgerator.) 8. Clean the back side of the bearing of hair, dust and dirt. (used compressed air if you have it) 9. Reassemble the bearing(s) you removed and cleaned on each end of the roller. I used a spritz of teflon dry lube spray on each when I put them back together. 10. Disassemble the air motor bearing from the shaft on the end that does not have the belt gear. Be careful not to lose the flat thrust bearing/washer at the bottom of the bearing housing. Clean, lube and reassemble. 11. Since I felt I couldn't remove the belt gear from the shaft (to get at the bearing), without damaging it, I worked at cutting the hairs and threads wound around the shaft. I used a single edge razor blade to painstakingly cut and remove what I could, then lubed and reassembled air motor. 12. I then reassembled everything and tried it. IT WORKED. The still sluggish bearing on the gear end of the air motor wasn't enough to stop the motor from turning the brush at an acceptable speed and torque.
