The GR-D30U does not take a SIM card. However it will take MMC and SD memory cards. MMC cards are all but extinct so go for an SD card. Make sure you get an SD card, 2GB or smaller, and not a higher-capacity SDHC card.
I can't find mention of a maximum storage capacity for memory cards for this camera but, given that it only has a 16mb card provided then it is highly unlikely that a 2 GB card will work. I have had this problem with a Nikon camera - tried using a 4GB card when it could only handle a max of 2GB. But don't throw away the 2Gb - it might come in handy if you decide to upgrade to a digital SLR at some stage. If you do that make sure you know what cards it will take.
The GR-DF450u works with SD cards. Your 4GB cards are actually SDHC cards. While they fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.
From the Amazon.com web page for this camera:
"This camera has a 3MP (2048x1536) photo resolution and 640x480 video resolution, and 16mb of internal memory expandable to 2GB with an SD card (not included)" This means that the camera has 16MB of built-in memory (enough to hold maybe 4 pictures), so you'll need to buy a 2GB or less size SD card too.
hi, the memory card you are using is to small for the camera it has not got enough memory on it you need to get at least a 1gb memory card or 2gb memory this will then allow you to take between 500 and 1000 pictures the 16mb card you have in is not worth using it will only hold a couple of pictures so go to the well known auction site and buy a 2gb memory card of the same type such as sd card or micro sd or mini sd it should tell you on the 16mb card what type it is then just buy the same type but with either 1gb or 2gb or even 4gb of memory this will then let you take 1000s of pictures
the 16mb card is no good in your camera get a bigger card and your problem will be solved
let me know if you have any problems with the new card ok
Hardware of this camcorder supports up to 2GB memory card so 4GB is more than its capacity and causing error. Try 1GB or 2GB memory card in camcorder. Thanks.
This model can accept SD card for up to 2GB only. You may be have more than 2GB card, otherwise there is an internal problem with your camera that needs repair. Hope this helps
