Distorted sound issue can be occurred due to loose connection, cable or problem with source. Check if Distorted sound issue is related to any audio/video files or any particular TV channel. my guess is the speakers
have you chosen the right setings in the sound options??

the cable is contaminated, try using another cable.
now i believe there are two red cables on the component cable two jacks for audio and three for video
check those two red jacks and see if they aren't mixed.
