Well, there is no "motor" for the water dispenser, only a solenoid valve. However, there could still be a problem with the solenoid even if you do hear it when its energized. Hearing it make a noise does not mean its working properly.

Water not coming out from dispenser

There are several possibilities. If it has an external dispenser, it will not function if the door is open. If you have changed a water filter, there may be air in the line. If the display panel is locked, the dispenser will not work. If a filter has been changed and is not seated properly, the device may not work. If the filter is clogged, it may not allow dispensing. Possible mechanical malfunctions include the door switch, the dispenser actuator, or the refrigerator control board if there are no problems with the water supply line. https://www.partselect.com/Repair/Refrigerator/Not-Dispensing-Water/

No Water going in to the fridge

Hi Norm,

Most fridges don't need a motor to run in order to dispense water. A simple on / off solenoid on the water line (same for the ice maker) that makes a click when changing from off to on and on to off is usually all anyone hears (the ice maker makes rumbling sounds and you can hear ice falling into the bin - too).

Check for ice. If it has a maker and it is making ice, the problem could be a defective water dispenser switch, solenoid or other circuit component or wire. If no ice, I'd suspect a filter or water supply issue.

Make sure the filter is fully inserted and twisted into place. Many filters have marks to align when 1) inserting and 2) to let you know when it is installed correctly. When sure it is installed correctly - try to dispense water again. Many fridges will dispense water without a filter. Check your manual before trying this though! If not working still, remove the filter and try to dispense water. If you're able to dispense water, the problem is either the installation of the filter or the filter itself. Try to re-install it correctly. Try to dispense water again.

If it still doesn't work - call the plumber back and ask why there's no water. Or - try this yourself:

Locate the point of attachment to the domestic water supply that the plumber used. There should be a valve to turn the water on and off. If off, turn ON. Try to dispense water again.

If that doesn't work - check to see if the fridge has pinched, kinked or crushed the water supply line. You may need to move the fridge forward to gain access to the water line and connection point on the fridge. Repair or replace the line as needed and route in such a way that moving the fridge in or out will not cause it to damage the line again.

Good luck!

Water dispenser on fridge not working - water pressure fine, could the line be frozen and why would that start happening all of a sudden?

Check to see if the water reservoir in the bottom of the frig is frozen. If it is, you will need to turn the frig temp down.

Check shutoff arm. Check to make sure it is getting water, check water solenoid. Check water supply line it may be frozen or plugged up. Check freezer temperature to low of a temperature could cause the line to freeze up. Check for power at motor. You will need to remove the ice maker. Find the leads that go to the auger and connect a voltmeter. Press the dispenser lever you should have power if not replace the control board or micro switch. Check control switch or microswitch. Put icemaker in test mode. Only some are equipped.

Ice cubes to large or small.

Adjust size by removing cover and turn adjustment screw + or -. Check water solenoid. Check water supply line. Make sure it is level.

Ice tastes bad

Clean ice tray. Check supply line. Check water solenoid. Change filter. Run at least a 3 gallons of water thru the line after replacing filter this will flush all old water.

Water dispenser quit working after a few hours after replacing filter. Have water pressure up to filter but nothing making it to the dispenser. Could it be that the new filter had something in it and...

There are 3 types of the PSW26P. They are basically the same when it comes to changing water filters. I do not recommend placing air into the water system, I believe that is what at this point is the problem. After changing water filter there is a period of time that you need to push the dispense water switch to allow for the air that is trapped in filter to purge. One moment I will send links, Sea Breeze

Drinking water has a bad taste and smell.

You will have to trace where the foul smell comes from by tracing the water line and testing the source. Check if it is before or after the filter you get the smell, if it is before the filter, you need to check if it is on the line which comes from the source or it is from the source. Most likely cleaning or probably a replacement of the part if cleaning does not help.
