Sounds like gummed carb, you may have to pull apart and clean the jets.

For what you are trying to run a 6000 what will work. You will need a running watt of no less than 5000 watts.
The 7000 will work just fine.

Because it won't be powering just your AC, I would recommend 5000W. It's that big amp draw when compressor kicks in that will pull it way down, if not strong enough. Take for example the fact that a dedicated 20 amp breaker and cable are the norm for RV's to use for AC now. Double check also that the generator your purchasing will take a momentary surge draw of up to 20+ amps without tripping breaker on generator. I say 20+ because once RV is plugged in or wired to generator, it will be powering any other hydro operated appliances, lights, converter etc that the trailer has on board. I bought a cheapie rated at 4000W, and 3000 running watts, but it kicks out the breaker just trying to start my portable air compressor, rated at 15 amps.

If it has been in storage with gas in it. it is gunked up. Need to remove carburetor and take to someone to clean carb.

Lights take almost nothing to run, however, an A/C takes quite a bit to operate. It would help to know more details about the A/C unit you have, such as the amps it draws, how many Btu's, etc.

Another issue is how much noise are you willing deal with related to operating the generator, as some camping areas have limits on generator use and the noise levels.

That being said, if you're looking for a really good and quiet generator that will run your A/C and some lighting, I'd have to say you can't beat a Honda rated for at least 3500 watts minimum running watts. But those are pricey compared to other brands, which make slightly more noise when running.

If you can get away with more noise, then you can get a nice 5000 watt unit for around $500 +/- that should handle your needs.
