I amusing a Brother HL-2140. Recently, the paper curls up and gets stuck in the tray, and will not move forward. I have cleared the pat several times, but the paper is stuck in the rollers, and it tears when I try to remove it.

Turn off the machine, > Open the front cover > remove the drum, cartridges, > and check if you can see the jammed paper or not, if so pull it out slowly. If you can't see the paper, close the front cover > Pull out the Tray completely > and once again check if you can see it or not, if so pull it out. Still it's not there? then install the tray and open the back door > pull the tab to open the fuser unit and pull out the paper, you can also pull out the fuser unit.

    I had already removed a paper I saw when I removed the tray. Error light stayed on. But, when I did as you said, to open back door, I found another paper in there, also, that I couldn't see from the front tray area. It works great, again! Thanks!!!

Paper won't come out paper light blinks
I have a similar printer. Sometimes the bottom paper tray gets stuck or caught. Make sure the printer is on a flat surface.

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Pull the paper tray all the way out.
3. Take out all the paper and then place the tray back in.
4. Turn the machine on and let it try to print without paper.
5. When the light comes on add paper hit the button and you should be good to go.

Be sure the front door is closed and that the fuser door is closed. Also be sure none of the sensor flags are stuck down. Also try pressing the Go button to see if the error clears.

Can i set the Brother HL-2140 to print double sided. I cannot find it ?
The Brother HL-2140 does not include duplex printing. The only option for double sided printing with this model is to print odd numbered pages, then manually replace the paper into the tray and print the even numbered pages in a second set.

Directly go to page No. 91 it explains how to open the door and paper tray to clear the paper jam.

Open the front door, remove the cartridge/drum...slowly slight the paper out. if it jams at the back ...do the same but rotate the fuser gear..if it jams on the tray not pull as it would cause the paper to break and sensors might get dmaged,

Hl-2140 noises
For a possible fix to the Brother HL-2140 squeal/squeak/noise problem open the printer at the other side from the paper tray and toner cartridge door. You should see a little black roller rod along with some white wheels.

The noise may be coming from the contact between the wheels/rollers which pull paper toward the output tray on top after it has been printed.

Check and clean/wipe the wheels and black rod, especially in the center area. Hopefully the noise will now be reduced/eliminated.
