You've got num lock on. To verify that, look for a Num Lock LED that is lit, should be near the screen on the keyboard side of the laptop. Often marked [1] or NumLock.
Simple fix, find the num lock key (or combination) and press it. If that doesn't work and the numlock LED is lit no matter what you press then you have a screwed up keyboard.

Your BIOS might be set to do this when the PC turns on. To fix that, look in BIOS setup for an option called "Boot Up NumLock" and turn it off.

Keys all mixed up keyboard

System Preferences > Keyboard > Input Sources
Check to see correct keyboard is present in the sidebar to the left.
If you're dealing with multiple keyboard layouts, tick "Show input menu in menu bar" at the bottom of this same preference menu. Then check the input menu in the menu bar to see if correct keyboard is selected.

Why the f8 key dont work in my pc?

What type of computer ?

What are you trying to do ?

Enter safe mode ?
Because of the small amount of space available, many smaller-screened Dell laptops come with a special key known as the "Function," or "Fn" key. The purpose of this key is to double the functions of multiple keys, most commonly the F1 through F12 keys. On some Dell laptops, the F1 through F12 keys are locked from use to give way to more commonly accessed commands and program shortcuts. However, unlocking an "F" key, such as F8, is not difficult.

Press and hold the "Fn" key on your laptop's keyboard. This key will usually be shaded blue and is located in the bottom row. Press the F8 key on your keyboard while still holding the "Fn" key. This will have unlocked the F8 key. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as necessary to unlock any other "F" keys you wish to use.

I just bought an Acer laptop andkeys are all different from desktop keyboard so wondering how I can find out what the keys are for without just hittin all of them. Are there specs available? Thankyou. Dee...

The symbols on the keys represent what will appear on screen

If the symbol is in blue that means you have to press the FN key over on the left side bottom row

Other symbols from the keyboard are typed by using the shift key

You can always buy a keyboard and plug it into the laptop if it proves to difficult

check on the keyboard, lots of the keys have an extra function, normally written in blue.

Look for the two that show brightness... it the same symbol on TVs that sets brightness...

now look for the "FN" key.

press and hold the "FN" key and then press the brightness + key... this should make the display brighter...

No display

Usually the keyboards have an fn key. Press fn + the key that has the sign of moon at the same time.

Also you may try to close your laptop and open it up and see if that will wake up the computer. Somehow your power setting on battery are messed up.

Hope that helps you.
