Picture fads to Blue after a 30 minutes the picture comes back with a blue tint.

Hi,

I have a Sony TV (57" Rear Projection) Model #KP-57WS500 Serial #9024895 age of TV (12/2002). When I turn on my TV first the picture looks great. Then with one minute my picture fads to Blue. The after 30 minutes the picture comes back with a blue tint. What do you think the problem is? How much do you think it would cost to repair?

Thanks El Tecnico,

I adjusted the Blue bias and the blue lines and blue screen came back. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah you need a tech to adjust the bias of the picture tube if you are lucky that fix it other wise the blue picture tube is bad

You have two problems: blue lines is convergence problem and the blue screen and shutdown is Blue Screen control is up too high.

Tv comes on for 10 seconds then fades to a green tint then turns completely green for a few seconds than turns off

Hi,
Symptom shows tv got problem with green picture tube that need to be replaced.
Rear projection tv has 3 picture tubes, red-green-blue to make color picture.
Since its an old model so spare parts would hardly be available and local tv repair shop will help you to arrange required part, if they can.

I have a KP-57WS500 57 in. Rear Projection

No,U have solderwicks?U can buy it,in any Radio Shack store.Use solder iron on top of the solderwicks to soap up the solders out ICS pins.Replaced the ICS use any kind solders just resoders ICS back to the heatsink.Tries Websites Tv repair World.com,Tv repairkits.com to buy a complete convergence kit.

Red tint,double pictured red, kinda swirly

Replace Both of your STK ICS they will have Part number on them example STK392-110 if 110s use 150s Call Mats 1-800-628-1118

The picture is good but it only comes in in blue

does the picture look like it is 3-D or is it blue and green? if so then you are missing the red color

Sony 57" KP-57WS500 went from blue to black screen, with audio

you need a new Blue CRT you can get one for around 300 at the following link.

Picture comes on then fades to blue

Check the info from this website to see if you are able to fix your TV. You should turn the blue screen control down slightly counterclockwise. If that did not work, then more likely you have a video amplifier IC defective or a blue CRT.

My tv too had a blue screen problem. Then it started to shut down after staying on for less than a minute. I thought that I would with a huge repair bill but I followed the directions at this link: http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html and now my tv works perfectly.

Sounds like a conergence circuit failure, probably a couple of AMPs and a few discreet components. Probably 250-300 repair
