Replacing belt on 2000 ford wingstar(diagram) 3.8litre engine

Which 3.0 V6 engine do you have ? I need the engine code
There should be a sticker on the hood or the radiator cover showing the diagram too.

Belt diagrams can be found at most NAPA auto parts stores. The tensioner is located on the front of the engine, usually above the other pulleys that the belt goes around.

For a 2000 ford focus there 4 diffrent belt diagrams, there are two types of engines and then with or without airconditioning.


I have enclosed all the diagrams and labeled them to help you figure out which one is for you.
the easiest way is to get your insurance card out and look at the cars id number on the card, its also called the vin#. looking at the number count from left to right 8 spaces and there will be a # 3 or a letter P then when you find the one you have go to the diagrams and locate the belt routing for your car,the only other choose is doing have a/c (airconditioning).

OK, one doesn't need a belt routing diagram to reinstall a new belt.

Just route the belt so that one by one you put the ribbed part of the belt up against the ribbed pulleys, and the smooth part of hte belt up against the smooth pulleys. Do this until one arrives at the tensioner and release tension with a breaker bar to put the belt on the final tensioner pulley.

Check that the tensioner has enough spring load for the belt to maintain the right friction against all of the serpentine pulleys.

That's all there is to it.

I don't believe Ford offered a 6 cylinder for the Escort in 2000. The engine is more than likely a 2.0L 4 cylinder. There were three engines for that year. Follow this link to see the diagrams you ask for. Choose the engine you have and click on the camera icon to see the correct diagram.

Absolutely NOT TRUE this vehicle has a timing chain, NOT a timing belt. It has a serpentine belt. Thanks for using FIX YA

There should Be a Factory Sticker under the Hood that gives you the Exact Routing. Check in the Back of the Owners Manual. If not let me Know!

2.0L Engines

The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
