Plasma Display Starting Up

Hello There, I have the same problem with my new Pioneer Elite 110FD. While watching TV via my HDTV converter box, the power sudenly turns off and the power indicator blinks several times and the gray box with a text PLASMA DISPLAY STARTING UP appears for about 15-20 seconds... Then the display is restored. My TV is just 4 weeks old and it happened to me 2x already. It's like an intermittent error where you cannot predict when it will happen again. Pioneer Plasma Tech Support is also cluecless about this error. Is this related to any hardware problem? Any help or suggestions please?

Could be heat build up in the Plasma display unit. Make sure it has the correct space around it for proper ventilation. Also count the number of blinks on the power indicator it is a code for the reason the unit shut down. On the Pioneer PDP-5060HD I have I was getting 12 blinks on the indicator which indicated a tuner issue. Check your instruction book for info on the over heating problem if it continues. You may have a fan out.

I connected my hp laptop to my pioneer plasma via svga cables. When i select my pc input using my tv remote it says "plasma display no input signal". How do I fix this?

Hello. You have to go into your Display Settings, in your HP Laptop, and chose the Dual Screen/Monitor Setting & make sure you check the "Extend my Windows Desktop onto this Monitor" Box. If you are trying to view your Internet Browser on your TV - you will need to Click on and Drag your Browser to the Right... of off your Laptop Screen and onto your TV Screen. This will take care of your problem!

My plasma does not split screan to show two channels (input) from the video recorder.

Correct. It doesnt. What are you trying to accomplish? If it is PIP from a cable box this needs to be within a dual tuner cable box. This has nothing to do with your TV.
Any TV that can do PIP has dual tuners.

I can't get rid of closed captioning!

Closed captioning can come trough 4 sources 3 of them access a digital file and display it to the screen. ALL must be set to off on each device:
Embeded in actual program video source--unlikely your problem.
TV decoder cotrolled by TV menu under "language"
Cable box--ditto for menu selection
DVD player or VHS tuner--Ditto for menu

Pioneer Elite shows pixels at the top of the screen

There may be a failure starting in the matrix drive board, or in the display itself. The area of failure can be verified with proper troubleshooting by swapping modules. These sets are mainly serviced by swapping modules, and then calibrating as required.

Considering the age of the set parts and modules may be difficult to find. Also, these sets are fairly expensive to service. Because of the age of the set reliability will be low even after service.

I would be seriously considering that it is time to start shopping for a new set when the fault becomes intolerable.

You should be able to get in-home warranty service or an exchange at no cost. Don't void the warranty by trying to fix it yourself. Contact your dealer or manufacturer for service or a replacement.

Hope this helps :)
